Ryōhei included a flower, fruit and (or) bird in more than thirty of his intaglio prints. Ten examples are shown below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. The brightly colored fruit of the Japanese persimmon appears in many of these prints, often with thatched houses in the background (e.g., pictures 1-8). Ryōhei drew the shapes of objects very accurately but chose to color most of them only in shades of gray. The contrast created by combining grayish objects with other colored ones is very effective.
